Reflections on Holy Week

Palm Sunday: Palm Branches Wave, will the Rocks cry Out?

The children laugh, and the palm branches wave.
Welcoming the humble Leader into the city gates.
The untamed colt lets the Creator ride, undaunted by the praises sung.
The priests are shocked, why would this Man let them praise Him such?
Yet the Prince of Peace knows well the Truth, for if the people would not...
The very Rocks of the Land would Praise He who was the Living Word,
through whom all that exists was spoken into being.
Little did the people know, why the Lamb had come...
Or how the World would change in just a few days time...

Holy Monday:  No Figs to Eat

The Savior hungers, a fig tree to see.
No figs to eat, the fig tree now cursed.
A temple to clean up...
Gone with the money changers...
Lamb sellers...
Dove and Pigeon hawkers...
A house of prayer to restore...
If only for a short time...
The fig tree has died...
Soon to will the Messiah be the Lamb cursed upon a Tree...

Holy Tuesday:  As Hen Gathers Her Chicks

Jerusalem...
City of Kings, Prophets, and Priests...
Once you were the camp of Melchizedek, my nomadic chieftain-priest...
Once you were the Mountains of Moriah where Abraham offered Isaac...
Once you were the city where David and Soloman ruled...
Once the voices of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Nathan, Ezekele, Huldah, and many others echoed in your streets...
Time after time your walls surrounded, your people carried off, or colonized by the invaders...
Once a place where the oil of the temple, did not run dry for 8 days time, though but a day's supply...
You who have heard the Messiah preach, heal, and restore...
He longed to gather you under the wings of His prayer shawl, just as a hen would her chicks...
But you would not have Him...
Jerusalem...
You will not see your Messiah again until you say, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"...
Selah.

Holy Wednesday:  Supper With Friends

Parsley and salted water,
The tears of the People...
Bitter Herbs,
A bitter captivity...
Spiced dried fruits...
The mortar of imprisonment...
Roasted Egg...
Life and eternity.
Sarcficed Lamb...
What I soon will be.
Scared and Periced Bread...
My Body broken for you...
Third Cup of Passover, the Cup of Redemption...
My Blood Poured out for you...
Four Cup of Passover, the Cup of Praise...
I will not drink until we celebrate together in the New Kingdom...
A Last Supper, a Last Seder, together dear friends...
Before the Lamb of God becomes the Passover's Redemption for all your Sins...

Holy Thursday: In the Garden

Olive Trees, then young still stand 2000 years later,
What did you hear in that Garden on that Fateful Night?
Did you see the Savior pled with the 11 remaining to watch and pray, only to sleep?
Did you see the 3, Peter, James, and John, flow a bit farther, also asked to watch and pray, also to sleep?
Did you see the Lamb of God, pleading with the Father, once, twice, three times for the Cup to be removed from Him?
Did you see Jesus surrender, "Not my will, but Your Will, be done."?
Did you see the 1 who would betray come, and kiss the Master's cheek?
Did you see the soldiers fall when the Creator said, "I AM!"?
Did you see Peter cut the servents ear, only to have Jesus heal it?
Did you see the disciples flee, one even naked?
Did you see them lead the Lamb of God away, soon to die upon the Tree?

Good Friday: Lamb of God

Lamb of God, who takes away the Sins of the World
Our substitue, perfect and unblemished by sin,
Come to grant Passover from Eternal Death, away from God,
Here now to Restore Eternity;s Life with the Father,
The first Adam eat the Fruit of the Tree, in rebelion,
And brought us messery, death, and sepperation from God.
The second Adam came as the Lamb of God dying on the Tree,
And brought us peace, joy, Life, and reconnection with God.

Darkness fell, the sun turnned black, as the Father turned his Face Away.
Your Spirit left, the Earth quaked, and the Veil was torn.
Your body lowered, wrapped in showd, and lain in the barrowed tomb.
All seemend lost as the evening fell, but you knew this was just the start...

Silent Saturday: A Rock-Carved Tomb

Priestly believers your body clamed,
A borrowed rock-card tomb its lifeless form now lain..
Sabbath's rest, no one to come, no one to morn...
Followers in hidding, morning is silence...
A mother's heart broken, her first born son now slane.
The windows barred and the door locked up in the upper room.
Your soul in the land of the dead, awaiting the Father's voice...
So we wait in Silence for the Joy that Comes in the Morning...

Resurrection Sunday:  The Stone is Rolled Away!

The women came, tear stained faces, baring spices and purfums,
Their Messiah to Honor...
The Soldiers have Scattered...
The Stone is Rolled Away...
The Body and Face shrowds folded...
The Angles say He Lives?
The Women return the Disciples to Tell...
John and Peter rush to the tomb the sight to see...
Mary Magadelen follows waiting in the Garden...
"Mary..." a Voice calls.
"Where have you taken my Lord?"
"Mary!" the Voice repeats...
"Rabbi!!!"  the woman is stunned the first Jesus to see.
"He is alive.  He alive! Jesus is alive, Forevermore!!!"
